1. Sales analytics

Result

  • A plain copy of the MBM deck does not pay for itself on Amazon. It would add about 15 to 75 units a month across .com and .de together.
  • A different deck is worth a small first print run: graded question depth, a visual layer, a method guide with no adverts, EN and DE, Amazon fulfilment (FBA), and sales through coach-training courses.
  • The growth on Amazon is in the US manager and leadership question decks. New decks there sell 100 to 300 a month. The "GROW" search term on its own is small.

Live Amazon pages in the US, UK and DE stores, read on 28 September 2026: about 110 products. Full write-up: sales-analytics.md, data with every calculation: sales-data.json (106 rows).

All 3 GROW decks together: about 40 to 190 units a month in the 3 stores, about €1,000 to €5,000 gross. The UK is MBM's biggest store. No MBM deck shows Amazon's "bought in past month" badge in any store.

  • Price for what you get
  • Scuffed boxes
  • UK spelling and £ in the US deck

How the numbers were made, and how sure they are

2. How the deck works

GROW is a coaching conversation in 4 steps. Each step has its own pile of 20 question cards.

StepWhat the coachee doesExample card
Goal (1-20)Says what they wantWhat difference do you want to create?
Reality (21-40)Looks at where they are nowWhat's really, deeply holding you back?
Options (41-60)Finds possible waysWhat step could you take that would make the biggest difference right now?
Way Forward (61-80)Chooses and commitsWhat are you willing to commit to here?

The 10 steps printed on the cards:

  1. Book a 30-60 minute meeting with the coachee (it can be yourself).
  2. Tell them this is a coaching session. You will ask for feedback at the end. Ask them to keep an open mind.
  3. Put the 80 question cards in front of you.
  4. Sort them into the 4 stage piles. Each stage has its own colour.
  5. Start with the Goal pile.
  6. Pick the questions that fit. You do not ask all of them. There is no set order.
  7. Ask the questions.
  8. Do the same for Reality, Options and Way Forward.
  9. Stop when there is a clear answer in each stage.
  10. Ask the coachee for feedback on you as a coach.

The coach picks the cards and asks the questions. The deck is a question bank in a fixed order of 4 steps.

?2 · What makes it metaFoxto decide

To decide

  • Online version on metaFox.online: now, later, or not at all?

The sales analytics (section 1) found 6 gaps in the market. This is where deck v1 stands on each.

GapWhat the research foundDeck v1
1. Question depthThe main complaint about MBM: "too basic, too similar". MBM sells depth as separate decks. Open. v1 has one level. Option: each card gets a second, deeper question, or each stage gets a set of harder cards.
2. A visual layerEvery GROW deck found is text only. In Germany, picture-and-question decks sell 100 to 400 a month. Partly. Stage icons, stage-coloured backs, 3 cards with a 0-10 scale (the metaFox Quantify move). No pictures yet.
3. A guide, no advertsMBM has up to 23 advert cards in the box. Buyers hate it. Done. 80 questions + 1 overview card. How-to and tips go in the guide.
4. EN and DE, US spellingMBM's German deck has 0 ratings. Its US deck has UK spelling and £. Planned. See section 9.
5. Amazon fulfilment (FBA)MBM ships its smaller decks itself from the UK.Launch decision, not a card decision.
6. Coach-training coursesMany buyers got the deck on a teacher's advice. Fits VOC and our ICF courses. Not planned yet.

Also in v1: metaFox question rules

10 of MBM's 80 questions use a superlative (best, biggest, most), and 10 dwell on the problem ("Deep down who are you still blaming for this issue?"). Ours are open and focus on resources and the future. Rules from wiki/products/question-cards.md.

Open: an online version

The same cards as a deck on metaFox.online would let a coach run GROW on a video call. MBM already gives away a third of its questions online. Not checked with Felix or Tobi yet.

?4 · Card designto decide

To decide

  • A, B or C.

Our suggestion

  • A. The stage reads at a glance face up and face down, and the question stays calm on white.

A. Colour band

White card, the stage colour as a band on top with the stage icon, name and number. Easy to read, and the stage shows when the cards lie face up.

B. Full colour

The whole front in the stage colour. Strongest from across the room. 80 cards of solid orange, navy, yellow and green is heavy, and the yellow cards need navy type.

C. The GROW path

White card, a thin colour edge, and the 4 steps as a path at the foot with the current step filled in. Teaches the model on every card, but the stage is harder to see in a spread.

GROW overview card

Big letter, stage name, and the one question of the stage. The fifth card is the only extra card: a GROW overview to lay at the top of the table.

?6 · Format and card countto decide

To decide

  • 80 or 60 questions.

Our suggestion

  • 80, if the printer can box 81 cards at a good price. Otherwise 60.
MBMmetaFox, suggested
Card sizeabout 73 x 105 mmcc, 80 x 120 mm, portrait. Same size as Hats We Wear!, same printer, same box.
Cards101 (80 questions)81: 80 questions + 1 overview. Or 61: 60 questions (15 per stage) + 1 overview.
Guideon 2 cards70 x 110 mm booklet, as in our other decks

80 matches MBM and the "80 questions" line on Amazon. 60 fits the Hats box without a new box size. That needs a check with the printer.

●7 · Methodin progress

1. Coaching one to one

Lay the 4 piles in a row: Goal, Reality, Options, Way Forward, with the overview card above them. Work from left to right. Take 1 to 3 questions per stage. The coach picks face up, or the coachee draws face down. Move on when the stage has a clear answer. At the end, the coachee says the first step out loud.

2. Self-coaching

Draw one card from each pile. Write your answers down, one stage at a time. 15 minutes.

3. Teams: peer coaching in pairs

Each pair gets the 4 piles. One person coaches, one is coached, 15 minutes, then swap. The coach may only ask what is on the cards. Good for training new managers in coaching.

Draft. The final methods go in the guide.

?8 · Nameto decide

To decide

  • Pick one, or ask for another round.

In every case the Amazon title carries "GROW model coaching cards", so the name does not need to do the search work. Ranked, first is our suggestion. None checked for trademarks yet.

#NameWhy
1"Next Step!" GROW Coaching CardsSays what the deck gives you: the next step. Short, and works in German too ("Nächster Schritt!").
2"Way Forward" GROW Coaching CardsTakes the name of the last stage. Clear, but it is also a heading inside the deck.
3"From Goal to Go" GROW Coaching CardsRhymes, and names the path of the model. Hard to translate.
4"Let's GROW!" Coaching CardsPuts the model name first, which helps search. Friendly; close to many other "Let's grow" products.
5"Grow Forward" Coaching CardsModel name plus direction. Plain.
6"Where To?" GROW Coaching CardsA question as a name, like our "What Do You Need?" and "How Do You Feel?".
7"Step by Step" GROW Coaching CardsCalm and easy to say. Very common phrase, weak as a brand.
8"Ask & Grow" Coaching CardsSays it is a question deck. Sounds like a slogan.
9"Clear Path" GROW Coaching CardsNames the result: clarity. Less warm.
10"Move On!" GROW Coaching CardsEnergetic. Can read as "get over it", which is wrong for coaching.
?9 · Languageto decide

Unlike Hats We Wear!, these cards carry words, so every language is its own print run.

Suggestion: English first, with US spelling, then German. The US is the biggest market for manager question decks. MBM already has a German GROW deck on amazon.de, with 0 ratings, so German demand is not proven. Our own shop and our German customers are the reason for a DE edition. French and Italian only if the first two sell.

?10 · Priceto decide
DeckPrice
MBM GROW, amazon.co.uk / .com / .de£19.99 / $34.99 / €24.99
US manager decks selling 100+ a month$26.99-29.99
German text coaching decks€17.90-24.80
metaFox Führungsfacetten€28.95
Our coaching-card sets39.95 EUR

39.95 EUR is above every GROW deck on Amazon, and "price for what you get" is already a complaint about MBM. A deck at our range price needs the depth and the visual layer from section 2 to carry it. Without them, 24.95 to 29.95 EUR is the band that sells.

11 · Packagingnot started

Starts after the name and card design are settled.

12 · Guidenot started

70 x 110 mm, same house layout as the My Inner Parts and Hats We Wear! guides. Starts after the method is settled.

?13 · Open questionsto decide
  1. Depth and visuals: the sales analytics says a plain deck does not pay. Add a deeper question per card, pictures, or both?
  2. Card design: A, B or C?
  3. Card count: 80 or 60 questions?
  4. Name: pick from the slate, or ask for more.
  5. Online version on metaFox.online: yes or later?
  6. Languages: EN first, then DE?
  7. Price: 39.95 EUR with depth and visuals, or 24.95-29.95 EUR without.
  8. Questions: read the 80 and mark any to cut or reword.
